Cardington-Lincoln Online Academy Application – Parents who wish to apply for their child to participate in the Remote/Online Only Platform for the 2019-2020 School Year. APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO AUGUST 7, 2020
Over the past several weeks, I have been working with our District Task Force made up of local health care professionals, administrators, Board Members, parents and school staff members to adopt a plan aimed at getting students reengaged in learning in the safest way possible.
As with any other day that we wake up in this world, our student day will involve a certain amount of risk posed by attending school either online or face to face. Our Task Force understands that there are risks both in the social isolation online or remote learning and physical interaction face to face instruction.
With safety in mind, our ideal plan will involve having students in the building the greatest extent possible.
Our Health, Safety, and Wellness Committee (comprised of parents, Certified Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and Administrators) is finalizing an approach to color coding local and State risk factors that will guide our decisions about a 5-Day Instructional Plan (Green), a 2 day per week hybrid plan (Yellow), and a total online/remote learning plan (Red).
All of our stakeholders will be asked to be flexible in the event that the health situation changes for the better or worse over the course of the next 12-18 months.
The Committee will also make recommendations in regard to face coverings, mental health supports, and quarantine policies.
More direct and conclusive guidance about the school day schedules will be released on or before July 17th via our District Website and District Social Media. In the interim, parents will be asked to commit to one of two choices to start the 2020-2021 school year. This decision must be made no later than July 31, 2020 to guarantee availability of technology.
Choice 1: Face to Face Instruction Scenario 1 (5 days per week) / Hybrid Learning (2 in person days per week, 3 remote learning days per week with an A/B schedule). Note: This is not a choice between 5 day instruction and hybrid. The District scenario will be dictated by the Ohio Health Advisory Status.
Choice 2: Online Learning Only. Parents will be asked to commit to this choice for the entire year in grades K-8, or by semester in grades 9-12)
The application will be provided no later than July 16th, 2020 via email to all residential primary custodial parent and caretakers.
